I didn't see a wallpaper section for this area, but whatever...

Original is 1920x1200, wallpaper size. Quite large, I admit, but it was fun to make. Created the original background and such for taenaron's space wallpaper contest, then decided that I could do better for that and put this up for the 2000 mark. So, for now I'm putting the watermark on it, if someone wants it for a background, send me a note and I'll resize it to whatever wallpaper size, and take the deviantart watermark off, pending you agree to leave my watermark on.

Basic story behind it: A single star system, surrounded and intersecting a nebula. A ringed gas giant and two planets, one with a moon, all orbiting a yellow star. The star orbits around the giant as well, so they're in a sort of dance, but their combined gravity keeps everything in a stable position. The planet with the moon and the other planet are always in the same position relative to one another...the sun is exactly between them. As a result, they can never see one another. However, at certain times of year, they can see the gas giant.

Technologically primitive, the people who live on these two planets don't know the other exists. One day, though, as always happens, the Empire stumbles across this system...the Rebels, though, keeping tabs on the Imps, go around and keep long range tabs...

The only stocks used were the ships, all stolen from a google image search.

The rest of the stuff was created by me from scratch, the stars came from Greg Martin's tutorial, while the the nebula and gas giant (including rings) came from Qzma's tutorials on the subjects.

So, even though I now (the last time I checked) have 2003 pageviews, I'm happy. Enjoy the wallpaper if thats your thing, skip it if you don't, I don't care. No crits, I'm happy enough with how it turned out.
