Artist's Comments

A combination of about 7 fractal images, some stock clouds, stars, and asteroid stock. Not much of a story here, just experimenting in those spare few minutes I had between homework assignments.

Technical details:

  • Original size is 1600 by 1200. Not the largest I've done, but it looked like crap bigger.
  • Each of the 7 fractals took an average of 13 hours to render in Apo3D.
  • Stars were rendered with a heavily modified version of Greg Martin's star tutorial, like always.
  • Not exactly sure how many layers there are*, but there are at least 20 visible.
  • Two cloud stock images are from a friend, ~calvin166, never published, and the other is Cloud Stock 1 by ~donotDISTURBphtgrphy, who actually hasn't posted rules about using her stuff. It is located in 'stock', though, so I feel pretty safe in this.
  • Asteroids are stock posted by ~ChrisCold, a very talented artist.

Ended up being submitted to the Duality art pack of ~universumartifex. ~universumartifex has the right to display it in their pack, =Space-Club has been given permission to post it in its gallery. Anyone else is free to use it as a wallpaper if you so please...original size available by request.

If you have constructive crit, please post it...if its not constructive just don't say it. I want to improve, not to be bashed.

*You should never combine my idiocy with Windows' automatic update restarts. Because of them, I lost the most up to date version of the .psd...not cool. I have enough, though.

I personally like the choice of colours, very deep and vibrant, nice job overall. :D

It gets just a little dark in the lower left hand corner, obscuring any background star detail. Like how you have it really good in the upper right hand corner

Oh look a couch... :couch:

I noticed that, kept it that way for a reason. Imagine dust - which is what a nebula is - with no reflecting light.

And thank you.

This is why I love art, and this is why I love space. This picture is an expression of everything I have ever admired about the heavens and the stars. Thank you for posting it. It's moving, man.
